This week, an optional assignment. No penalty if you don't do it, but a bit of extra credit (don't ask how much...) if you do.
Look back over the materials on matching realities (here and here and here).
Then, either (choose one)
Critique one or more of the systematic metaphors I've given for the US or Poland.
Suggest a new systematic metaphor for Poland that isn't on my list.
Suggest a new systematic metaphor for some other culture you have (had) a lot of contact with.
Here's an example or two, feel free to build on them or critique them if you want,
The suggestion has been made that Chinese men's behavior is not guided by "The (American) football game of life" but by one that might be described as "The family shrine".
Contact and conversations with British people suggest to me that many operate under a WWII metaphor that might be called "Their finest hour" (look it up).
Again, strictly optional but maybe interesting or fun....
The page to post it as below the fold (click where it says 'czytaj więcej').
As always take care and stay healthy (and masked in public!)
post it here (as always just drop it at the top and be sure to include your name)
here's the link for your observations
